Did I race through this near-dystopia biopunk SF novel set in politically and environmentally unstable Bangkok? Did the complex plot, which tied political intrigue with a surreal love story, make my brain reel? Did I feel this was a hell of a sociological study disguised as a novel? Was the character development so convincing, and the author so respectful of his readers’ intelligence that almost every bit of information had to be deduced instead of told outright? Can you tell that I mean “yes” to every question above? This book rocked my world.
